Your Baby's Safety

On a scale of 1 to 10, how safe do you feel with your baby in your vehicle, knowing that an airbag could deploy if a car accident occurred?
Totally unsafe = 1 and Totally safe = 10.

What if there was a way to tell your vehicle, "Hey! My kid is in this vehicle, so don't try anything stupid... Don't set off your airbags on my baby!" 

If that were the case, then how would you rate your feeling of safety for your child, while driving your vehicle?

Well, it was brought to my attention that there is a way to inform my vehicle that a baby is inside of it, and that the car seat can request that that my vehicle holds off on deploying its airbags!!! 

The system responsible for this amazement is called, "BabySmart."  The way it works is by way of a special technology that allows the vehicle to identify a compatible car seat by its built-in "transponder unit."  The baby's car seat is identified by the vehicle, then the vehicle disarms the nearest air bag, leaving your baby safe from an airbag beat-down!  Of course, Mercedes sells their brand... But naturally, we went to Babies R Us for a "Graco" brand car seat system; it's BabySmart-equipped and much more reasonably priced ;-) For more details on this amazing system,  CLICK HERE!

Space Exploration & Black History

Astronaut health and human exploration of Space are connected to Black History.  NASA's team, which is comprised of tens of thousands of individuals, have reached incredible milestones in Space exploration. A couple of NASA's responsibilities are to ensure the health and safety of astronauts.  Meanwhile, medical innovations such as heart pumps, used to prolong the life of individuals awaiting heart transplants, are also attributed to the work of NASA's extraordinary team.

The Black lady shown in the photo below was my best friend's mother.  We grew up across the bridge from Kennedy Space Center, where she worked as part of the NASA team, as unprecedented results were achieved.  I wrote an article about her role in the Space Program (Florida Today-A Gannett Company), shortly after her untimely death.  Rest in peace, Ms. Eartha; you will not be forgotten.
